Brussels, NATO Headquarters, 7 to 11 May 2025 – 29 representatives from 19 partner nations participated in the 26th iteration of the NATO Partner Staff Officers' Familiarization Programme. The eight-day event, jointly organized by IMS Cooperative Security (CS) Division and SHAPE’s Partnership Directorate, introduced participants to NATO’s structure and opportunities for cooperation.

Brussels, 14 May 2025 – The 193rd NATO Military Committee in Chiefs of Defence Session took place at NATO Headquarters in Brussels, today. Thirty two Allied Chiefs of Defence discussed NATO’s vigilance & deterrence, continued support to Ukraine, and preparations for the NATO Summit in The Hague in June. The final meeting of the day saw the Ukrainian Chief of Defence, General Sikyrsky, join the NATO-Ukraine Council virtually from Kyiv.

NATO’s highest Military Authority, the Military Committee, will meet on 14 May 2025, at the Chiefs of Defence level. The Chair of the Military Committee (CMC), Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, will preside the meeting, with the participation of the 32 Allies, along with the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), and Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT).

Brussels, NATO HQ, 12 May – The Colombian Chief of Defence Admiral Francisco Hernando Cubides Granados was welcomed to NATO Headquarters by the Chair of the NATO Military Committee (CMC), Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone. During his stay at NATO HQ, he engaged in a series of high-level meetings with NATO military leadership, on NATO-Colombia cooperation.

Washington D.C., 5 to 8 May 2025 – The Chair of the NATO Military Committee (CMC), Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, participated in a series of high-level strategic meetings in the US, exchanging ideas with military leadership from US and across the Alliance, as well as political and civil society leaders from around the world. During the visit, he also paid homage to the American service members who lay at rest in Arlington National Cemetery.

NATO’s Special Representative for the Southern Neighbourhood, Mr Javier Colomina, travelled to Kuwait on 8 May 2025, for the first time in his new capacity. He met with high level officials from Kuwait, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. He also participated in an event organised by the NATO-Istanbul Cooperation Initiative Regional Centre on “Security cooperation, partnerships, and NATO in light of an evolving geopolitical landscape in the Gulf,” which featured a discussion with the Assistant Foreign Minister for International Organizations, His Excellency Abdulaziz Al Jarallah, moderated by Dr Bader Al Saif from Kuwait University.

The conference celebrated a milestone year for the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda, celebrating 25 years since the adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325, a foundational framework for the inclusion of women in all aspects of peace and security.
