NMIOTC cover photo article re-accreditation

Throughout February 12-13, 2025, the HQ SACT Quality Assurance Team of Experts (QA ToE), consisting of MAJ Oliver WILD (DEU-A) and LTC Austin LUHER (US Army), conducted an on-site visit to the NATO Maritime Interdiction Operations Training Centre (NMIOTC) in Souda Bay, Chania, Crete, Greece. This evaluation, based on the 31 NATO Quality Standards, assessed the institution’s commitment to Continuous Improvement and the effectiveness of its Quality Management System (QMS) in supporting NATO Education and Individual Training (E&IT).

The QA ToE will provide a recommendation to the DOS MDFD, who will make the final decision on the accreditation status. The support and engagement of the NMIOTC leadership and staff during the visit were some of the key factors in assessing the centre’s adherence to NATO Quality Standards.

Following the on-site visit, the QA ToE will recommend the NATO Maritime Interdiction Operations Training Centre (NMIOTC) for UNCONDITIONAL ACCREDITATION for a period of six years, subject to the final decision of the DOS MDFD. This underscores NATO's commitment to maintaining the highest educational standards, ensuring interoperability, and strengthening the Alliance through quality education and training.
